Family owned and operated since 1936, George Downing Estate Drilling Limited has been incorporated under federal charter since 1958. We have a diverse and constantly growing fleet of drills to accommodate any of your drilling needs, consisting of various exploration rigs, auger rigs, direct push rigs and a vast fleet of support equipment to meet any of your specifications for all your soils investigation – environmental, geotechnical, hydrogeological and exploration- projects.

We have drilled across Canada, from the Maritimes to Alberta. We have also drilled in Africa, Haiti, India, Jamaica, Turkey and the United States. Our offices are located between Ottawa and Montreal, in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue area and Duluth, MN, USA we have also established bases in Thunder Bay, Schefferville and Labrador City.

Boart Longyear Recognizes A Customer Relationship Spanning Three Generations and Almost 80 Years At PDAC in March 2015, Mr. Kent Hoots, Senior Vice President, Products formally recognized George Downing Estate Drilling for their unwavering support and customer loyalty since 1936. Mr. Hoots presented Bruce and Andrew Downing with a custom plaque featuring a rendering of a Junior Straitline – the very first rig George Downing rented from Longyear in 1936.
